World of Warcraft on iPad via Gaikai game streaming service
Steve Jobs chokes on breakfast
Ironically I've just written an opinion piece entitled 'After Flashgate, Apple's next dilemma will be game on-demand services such as OnLive'.
As ever, Dave Perry has pre-empted my weekend musings with a screenshot that seems to demonstrate that his Gaikai game streaming service enables you to have World of Warcraft running on your iPad.
Of course, this isn't yet a commercial service, and as I discuss, Apple could do plenty to stop such browser-based game streams working on its hardware.
It's especially so in the case of Gaikai, which is reported to use a combination of Java, Flash and Silverlight to work. Apparently Steve Jobs' isn't too keen on Flash.
It's also the case that Gaikai isn't yet a commercial service. As with rivals such as OnLive and OTOY, Gaikai plans to do its beta testing this summer.
But if any of them can get games such as WoW working on iDevices without requiring an App Store app, expect to hear plenty more about the fact.
