Android 2.2 arriving on May 19th?
Flashy
Rumours have started to emerge that next iteration of Google’s Android OS is to be released within a month.
According to reports from website Android and Me, Android 2.2 (codenamed ‘Froyo’) has increasingly been popping up on its site analytics for the past two weeks, meaning that phones using the OS have been visiting the site from Google HQ.
While this data can be manipulated, the site also claims that ‘additional sources familiar with the matter’ have confirmed the OS is in its testing phase, although they don’t elaborate on who these sources could be.
Android 2.2 is widely expected to contain support for Adobe Flash 10.1 meaning that all my favourite web games like FarmVille, Mob Wars, and Alienate My Facebook Friends will be playable on the go.
Understandably, no release date has been announced for the new OS yet, but rumours point to the Google I/O conference that starts on the 19th May as the most likely place Google will make the announcement.
