It seems Nokia is set to hold a special event in less than 24 hours time, and it’s being speculated it might see the official announcement of its much-rumoured N8 handset.

It’s believed that the N8 will be the company’s first Symbian^3 device.

Symbian^3 is the second operating system release from the Symbian Foundation, and the first to be fully open source. It supports advanced graphical effects and improved data performance, which bodes well for us pocket gamers.

Specced for success

While we’re talking about firsts, the N8 device is also rumoured to be the first Nokia handset to feature a 12MP camera. It’ll be impressively equipped elsewhere too, with a large (3.5 to 4 inch) capacitive touchscreen, HD video recording, HDMI port and 32GB of internal memory.

Of course, the Nokia event could be about something completely different – the official website simply features the title ‘Everyone connect’ along with a large timer ticking down the days, hours, minutes and seconds until the event.

However, it has been rumoured that the N8 would be revealed in mid-April, which would tally with the April 13th event. We’ll bring you more news as we get it.
