Steve Jobs confident that iPad will still go international in late April

Before Apple announced all the fancy new features that fans will be greeted to in the iPhone 4.0 operating system, CEO Steve Jobs reeled off some impressive sales figures for the App Store, the iBook Store and the iPad.

As we reported, Apple's new tablet has made a considerable splash with 450,000 iPads sold so far. But such demand needs plenty of supply, and Apple is struggling.

"I'm told Best Buy is out of stock, our retail stores are getting them and selling them right out," said Jobs.

"We're making them as fast as we can, but evidently we can't make enough of them so we'll have to try harder."

On schedule

European customers, who are still treated with a "Late April" release date on Apple's website, might have been biting their nails at this point.

If Apple's struggling to meet demand in the United States, what hope do they have of getting them into our shops?

Well fear no more.

One European ambassador asked the very same question at the Q&A that followed the keynote.

Asking "Will iPad’s success impact its international launch?", Jobs replied " No, we said we’re launching internationally later in April, and we’re launching later in April,"

Glad that's cleared up then
