Mirror's Edge joins C&C as most expensive iPad launch games

EA has faith in rabid launch day consumers

Mirror's Edge joins C&C as most expensive iPad launch games

Mirror's Edge has been one of the most mysterious and elusive iPhone games. Since being announced by EA late last year its never held a firm release date, despite tonnes of screenshots and videos showing just how complete it is.

Well, here's our reason. Mirror's Edge has been supersized for an iPad launch this week and comes to the tablet with a giant price. Like Command & Conquer: Red Alert, Mirror's Edge will jump onto the iPad at $14.99, meaning EA will sell the most expensive iPad games so far.

When they hit the UK, they will likely be priced at about £9.99.

The iPad game mostly follows the plot of the 2008 home console release. In a squeaky-clean Totalitarian city, all letters and correspondence are checked by the government. You play as Faith Connors, an illegal package runner who's like the Royal Mail mixed with parkour.

It plays a bit like side-scrolling platformer Canabalt, but with more actions to pull off. You'll definitely be doing a lot of jumping from building to building, but you'll also slide down ramps, ride zip lines, and run up walls.

The game has a bunch of multiplayer content too, so you race against other runners on four multiplayer maps.

The App Store screenshot also shows off EA's complete list of launch day iPad games, just in case you'd forgotten them. There's Need for Speed: Shift, Tetris and Command & Conquer Red Alert. Boggle and Yahtzee will be coming soon.

iPad launches in America on Saturday, and will hit the UK later this month.
