Apple Store holiday blackout sparks 24th April UK iPad launch date rumours
|

Last night, Ubergizmo speculated that the iPad could be in the hands of UK consumers as early as April the 24th. This date stems from a rumour that Apple Store staff have been told that they can’t take holiday over that date, despite it being a Saturday.

Whilst Ubergizmo cites a leak as its source, no further details are apparent in the report, which only mentions Canadian pre-orders. Pocket Gamer has contacted the Apple Store in Bristol, as well as Apple's PR department, to establish whether the holiday blackout applies to UK staff. Both declined to comment.

Apple’s own website is currently displaying a large iPad banner which reads “Coming late April”. This, along with the fact that April 24th is the last Saturday of the month, ties in with the rumour.

U.S. iPad pre-orders began on March 12th, about three weeks prior to the April 3rd release date. If the 24th is indeed the U.K. release date, pre-ordering could begin on Friday.

We recommend you go easy on the chocolate eggs this Easter, and start saving instead.
