Smiles HD will be out for iPad launch

We thought iPhone puzzler Smiles was pretty good when it came out for iPhone at the start of 2009.

Cleverly it makes the most of the match-3 mechanic by employing it in different ways, ranging from the thoughtful Zen puzzler to the more action oriented Drop and Avalanche modes.

"What initially appears to be a set of standard shape-matching conundrums ends up as a neat package that serves fans of pacey as well as prudent puzzle solving," reckoned reviewer Keith Andrew.

And now we'll get the chance to relive the experience on the bigger iPad screen thanks to Smiles HD.

Here's what it looks like in video form; first in the Drop arcade puzzle mode and then in the Zen Solitaire-like mode.

Smiles HD scheduled for release on 3rd April and will be priced at $4.99, €3.99, or £2.99.
