SGN mixes freemium model with $7 Skies of Glory campaign bundle

Here's an interesting thing.

SGN launched its excellent World War II online dogfighting game Skies of Glory as a freemium game where you got the app for free and then loaded up with virtual items to improve the experience.

Now, however, it's also going down the old fashioned paid route with the release of Skies of Glory - Battle of Britain.

Labelled a campaign bundle, it contains ten new missions, the Skirmish mode - which adds 95 additional dogfight missions - and the War Games mission pack, which includes ten missions and four additional planes.

SGN explains that this approach, "represents a new and innovative content strategy whereby episodic content is bundled in distinct applications and sold at a discount. Each episode explores one facet of the title's larger narrative world".

No doubt we'll be seeing more such releases in future, then.

Skies of Glory - Battle of Britain is out now, priced $6.99, €5.49 or £3.99.
