As developer Ziconic points out, its AirCoaster rollercoaster track editor always felt a bit constricted on the iPhone.

Looking at the screenshots of the supersized version that's just been submitted to Apple, iPad might make all the difference however.

In addition to the extra screen resolution, the controls have been enhanced. You can now navigate around your track using one finger to rotate, two to zoom and three to pan.

You can also adjust any segment in the track by tapping on it to select it and then dragging the manipulator 3D arrows.

As for the issue of framerate, Ziconic reckons AirCoaster XL on iPad should have a similar performance to the iPhone 3GS version, although without actually having tested it on iPad hardware, we'll have to wait and see.
