Exclusive: I-play reveals Fast & Furious: Adrenaline on iPhone

We were recently invited to take an exclusive peek at I-play's forthcoming follow-up to Fast & Furious on iPhone. We should have a full hands on for you soon, but for now we thought we’d bring you what we’ve learned about the game.

While Fast & Furious: Adrenaline boasts a number of the characters from last year’s series relaunch, that’s about where the links end (other than it being another high-octane street racer). Adrenaline is no phoned-in sequel, but rather a brand new, built-from-the-ground-up experience.

That’s evidenced most obviously by the change in developer - while Fast & Furious was made by the antipodean whiz-kids at Firemint, I-play has brought the sequel in-house and handed development duties to its Romanian studio.

A change in developer means a change in focus, and this time the illegal street racing antics centre around Turf War. This modes drops you into a “persistent street racing scene,” where you’re asked to join a crew and conquer territories by winning races. Conversely, you’ll also need to defend your hard-won property when “attacked”.

Perhaps the most exciting aspect of the Turf War concept is that it extends online through Facebook, allowing you to scrap over territory with fellow humans.

The rest is all facts and figures at this point: four locations, 12 tracks, five race types (Road Race, Cop Chase, Time Trial, Boss Battle & Drag Race), and 35 cars.

In terms of how it plays, you’ll have to wait a little while longer until we’ve had a chance to go preview a near-finished build. The game’s set for a mid-April release, so we shouldn’t have too long to wait.
