Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker coming June 18th

Konami has announced that Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will arrive on PSP and PSPgo on June 18th in Europe.

The sneaky action title slots in the series canon as a direct sequel to PS2's Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and is designed by Metal Gear creator Hideo Kojima as the next chapter in the franchise.

In fact, the Japanese auteur Tweeted earlier this month that "PW is going to be released as a portable game, but it is a TRUE MGS game in the saga, not a spin off."

Peace Walker features a strong co-operative component and will support the new adhocParty mode, which allows PSP fans to play together online via the Playstation 3. While teaming up in co-op, players can administer medical help to others, share munitions and provide cover for each other.

The latest Metal Gear Solid game will be released on UMD, and will be downloadable via the PlayStation Network, on June 18th.

In North America, Peace Walker arrives a week early on June 8th, and Sony will release a Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker Entertainment Pack, which includes the game and a "Spirited Green" PSP-3000.

We've contacted Konami and Sony for comment on whether this PSP will be released in the UK - we'll let you know when we do.
