Augmented reality game Ghostwire coming to iPhone and Android

GPS a possibility

Augmented reality game Ghostwire coming to iPhone and Android

Augmented reality gaming is going to be the next big thing if you believe, specifically, the people who say augmented reality gaming is the next big thing. Of whom there are many.

Ghostwire is perhaps the most promising portable example of the technology. Announced some time ago for DSi, the game sees you meeting ghosts by holding up your device and waiting for them to appear on the screen. Designer Anders Bergman describes the experience as something between Pokemon and a classic adventure game.

Ghostwire's lead developer Tom Soderland has told Joystiq that Ghostwire will also be coming to iPhone and Android devices, potentially before the game's Halloween 2010 release on DSi. Its appearance on mobile phones raises the possibility that GPS will come into play, meaning Apple and Google may boast the definitive versions.
