Tony Hawk confirms Pro Skater 2 for iPhone

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 is coming to iPhone and iPod touch, the skateboarding icon revealed in a post to his official Twitter feed.

The game - which originally debuted on the original PlayStation - will purportedly debut on the App Store soon.

"In the PR world, this is considered 'going rogue,' but I'm too excited. This is real & dropping soon."

As you can see in the above screenshot, you control a skater with a virtual directional pad and execute tricks via four buttons in the lower-right corner. It's not known if the game will utilise the accelerometer in any way, such as when grinding on rails to maintain balance.

It's safe to assume that your skater is propelled automatically, leaving you free to coordinate tricks with presses of the grind, kick, grab, and jump buttons.

An icon showing your stance in the upper-right corner may indicate the ability to switch footing with a tap.

No word on what modes and features will be included since Activision hasn't formally announced the game. Hopefully it's a complete port of the original and the majority of feature remain intact.

Furthermore, there's no word on pricing; however, given the steep tag on Call of Duty: World at War - Zombies, it wouldn't be surprising if it was on the higher end of the pricing spectrum.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2 should be available soon for iPhone and iPod touch.
