Japanese developers Cing has filed for bankruptcy, fuelling speculation that The Last Window (Hotel Dusk 2) won’t be receiving a European and American release.

Last Window continues the story of ex-detective Kyle Hyde as he attempts to unravel the mysteries inside the Cape West apartment blocks in 1980s LA, and includes a number of new features including the ability to interrupt conversations mid-flow.

The developers were over 200 million Yen (£1.4 million) in debt and look certain to lose a number of its staff as a result of the bankruptcy filing.

Despite the developer’s woes, there’s still a slither of hope that the game will make its way over to European shores, with the publisher, Nintendo (you may have heard of it), reportedly trade-marking the Last Window name in Europe.

The original Hotel Dusk managed to score out a Pocket Gamer Silver Award back in 2007, so it would be a great disappointment if the sequel doesn’t make its way across.
