Original concepts aren't hard to come by on iPhone, but good ones are pretty rare. That's why it's worth paying attention when the creative force behind one such title - space-based puzzler Eliss - announces it's working on a follow-up.

Faraway will be the first game released under Eliss's creator Steph Thirion's new label Little—Eyes. The title is due to make a splash at the Game Developers Conference in San Francisco this week.

According to Thirion himself, it will play on similar themes to his original release, but "while Eliss was about planets and space management in sectors, Faraway will be about constellations and infinite space travel".

There's been no word on just what formats are in line for its launch, though it would hardly be a wild bet to put your money on iPhone and iPod touch, given that's where Eliss made its name.

Thirion says platform announcements, along with other details, will be made "in the near future", but those who attend its unveiling at game collective Kotoromi's Gamma IV event at 8pm tomorrow at San Francisco's Mezzanine will more than likely see it running on at least one format.
