Sony's PSN store is home to an ever growing list of slick, stylish re-imaginings of classic video game genres. Towards the end of last year, a game called Shatter (PSN version pictured) successfully revamped the Breakout/Arkanoid-style bat 'n' ball game for a modern audience.

As well as some trendy neon-soaked visuals, Shatter boasts an excellent electronica soundtrack and a number of neat gameplay innovations, such as the ability to bend the trajectory of the ball with bursts of air.

Now it appears that the game could be heading over to iPhone, if a comment seemingly posted by Sidhe co-founder Mario Wynands is anything to go by.

Speaking on an unrelated thread over on Eurogamer, a user named Mario responded to a forumite's incorrect statement regarding the platform exclusivity of Shatter.

He said: "Shatter is also not explicitly exclusive to PSN, and we did not use the Sony Publisher Fund. We are bringing it to PC via Steam soon and hopefully iPhone by the middle of the year or so."

Interestingly, in September 2009 Sidhe (apparently New Zealand's largest game production studio) launched its own iPhone development studio, PikPok, which has already produced the impressive (and Doodle Jump-esque) Bird Strike as well as the equally accomplished rhythm action movie tie-in Fame.

All of which suggests that a high-quality conversion of one of PSN's finest games is on its way to iPhone this year.

We've contacted Sidhe for confirmation, so we'll keep you posted.
