It was a sad day when we heard that Zeemote was to close its doors, especially after the majority of Pocket Gamer's writers had become so dependent on the excellent mobile game controller.

We then heard that Japanese electronics firm Aplix Corporation had bought the Zeemote JS1, and has now revealed plans to bring it back to store shelves in partnership with Nokia.

"This is great news for mobile game fans who now have even more opportunity to purchase a Zeemote Controller and interact with their Nokia handset in an entirely new and fun way," says Zeemote's Jim Adams.

"By passing the Nokia accessory developer criteria under the Works with Nokia program we are one of a select group of accessories, which will be showcased internationally."

The Bluetooth thumbstick controller has been accepted into Nokia's accessory developer program, Works with Nokia, and will be sold in a retail package brandishing the handset manufacturer's seal of approval.

The newly repackaged Zeemote JS1 will be going on sale worldwide, and will include a free Gameloft game download sent directly to your Nokia handset.

There are no details on a release date or price as yet, but we'll keep you posted. In the meantime, you should consider cracking open your piggy bank – this is about the most essential accessory any pocket gamer could have.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
