Transformers G1: Awakening reveals itself on iPhone

It's only a month since Glu spoke of the exceptional mobile turn-based strategy game Transformers G1: Awakening was to be… well, transformed for the iPhone, and we awake this morning to find it's already on the App Store.

The game includes 23 of your favourite robots in disguise from the original series (that's what the G1 stands for, see: generation one) including Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Ratchet and Ironhide from the Autobots, and among the Decepticons are Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave and Frenzy.

The story mode comes packed with 17 levels, enabling you to play as either the Autobots or Decepticons with a beautiful-looking new 3D cel-shaded, fully animated visual style as you battle it out in the Cybertron Arena.

The game has landed at £2.99/$4.99, so it's not exactly a budget title. But considering the outstanding quality of the mobile Transformers G1 game, it's more than likely to earn its money.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
