EA reportedly buys Australian developer IronMonkey Studios

Could explain iPhone's Mirror's Edge delay

EA reportedly buys Australian developer IronMonkey Studios

Australian website Tsumea claims to have it from reliable sources that Electronic Arts has bought up developer Melbourne-based IronMonkey Studios.

It doesn't seem at all unreasonable, given that the two companies have forged a very strong relationship recently, with IronMonkey being responsible for some of EA's most technically impressive and prestigious iPhone titles, including Need for Speed: Shift, Need for Speed: Undercover, The Sims 3 and, most recently, Mirror's Edge.

This latter game is one that we've particularly been looking forward to, and talk of a company buyout would explain the delays in Mirror's Edge making its way to the App Store despite clearly having been completed.

This comes only a few months after EA snapped up social game firm Playfish for a whopping $300 million. The IronMonkey Studios deal is unconfirmed at the moment, but we'll keep you posted.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
