The Crystal Maze out now, puzzling the iPhone audience
Head scratching
As TV licences goes, The Crystal Maze is fairly niche in terms of its geography - UK - and demographic - were you a teenager in the 1990s?
Yet, somehow, it's managed to slip from fairly niche into a cult status that belies both its geography and live audience; something Scottish developer Dynamo Games has already plugged into with two mobile versions.
Now the game's live on the App Store, with Richard O'Brien, Mumsie, the four themed zones, an array of puzzles and obstacles, and the official soundtrack, samples and harmonica solos all present and correct.
It features two game modes.
TV Show Campaign tasks you with the full Crystal Maze challenge with lock-ins, meeting Mumsie, collecting crystals and the final test of the Crystal Dome itself.
Challenge Mode lets you replay any completed challenges to compete for the highest score via the OpenFeint leaderboards.
"The Crystal Maze is one of those rare institutions that defined television in the 90s," said Dynamo Games' Brian McNicoll.
"Working closely with the creators of the show, we have captured the feeling of the series and look forward to expanding on the game with a strong line up of expansion packs in the near future."
The Crystal Maze is out now priced £1.79.
