Being the same age as my tongue but older than my teeth (as me grandmother used to say) I do love to dwell in the past and fill my days playing retro games on these new-fangled iPhone things. Games like the laserdisc classic Cobra Command.

But you might be a bit young to remember the days of laserdisc delights, so developer Revolutionary Concepts has put together a free-to-play version of its retro adaptation.

Cobra Command works by playing micro-snippets of hand-drawn animation with a video game overlaid on the film action. The result is a gorgeous looking shoot-'em-up, and you can now play the New York level for the bargain price of nothing. You can then unlock the rest of the game through an in-app purchase if it tickles your fancy.

There's also a new easy mode, enhanced tilt controls, an extensive video tutorial, and online scoreboards so you can show off to all those other aging arcade creepers.

Here's a link to the new freemium version of Cobra Command, or you can check out the full version by hitting the App Store button below.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
