Following hot on the heels of rumours that the DS2 development kit is already in the hands of some of Nintendo’s most trusted partners, an ‘insider from a third-party studio’ has confirmed the rumours to CVG and revealed a little more info on the DS2’s new features.

The unnamed source claims that a ‘handful’ of developers in Japan have the device on a trial basis and that it was the first version of the finished retail product, with the ever-reliable Pokemon Company getting special attention from the big N.

He went on to say that it was ‘genuinely the best thing I think I’ve ever worked with’, claiming that it has ‘a tilt function that’s not dissimilar to the iPhone, but does a lot more.’

The successor to the biggest selling handheld of all-time is not expected to be announced for a good while yet, but we’ll be keeping our eye out for further developments.
