Speaking at this year's Mobile World Congress, software giant Adobe has been establishing its position within the smartphone world as it announced that Flash Player 10.1 should be available for most major platforms this summer.

Android and Palm are the big names attached to receive a full Flash player, while Samsung's bada is already compatible. Blackberry, Windows Mobile 7, and Motorola are also on the list to receiver a player further down the line.

Adobe also revealed that its AIR run-time system - which currently allows developers to create iPhone applications in Flash and then convert them to run on Apple's device - will be coming to Android.

This should allow a host of established Flash developers to immediately gain access to the Android Marketplace, and, combined with full Flash Player support, we could be seeing a huge number of superb new games and apps for Google's smartphone platform.

Adobe says it expects 10 per cent of all smartphones to be Flash equipped by the end of the year, and over 50 per cent by 2012. It noticeably made no mention of the iPhone.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
