Call of Duty: World at War developer Treyarch is ‘very interested’ in expanding its range of iPhone titles after the success of Ideaworks’s Call of Duty: World at War: Zombies.

Speaking to Kotaku, Treyarch community manager Josh Olin said that it was ‘a definite possibility’ that Call of Duty: World at War would come to the iPhone, adding that it ‘would be a natural fit’.

Call of Duty: World at War has so far sold over 11 million copies on the home consoles, making it one of the most successful CoD games released.

It was also the first in the series to feature a full co-op campaign, which hopefully will make the transition to the iPhone if it does make its way across the format trenches.

Zombies, the massively successful iPhone spin-off of a bonus mode in the original game, managed to bludgeon and shoot its way to a prized Pocket Gamer Gold award last November, and the first add-on map, called Verruckt, should be on the app store very soon.
