Ovi Orion concept phone shows Nokia's next gen gaming potential

This is not a real phone.

Now that's out of the way, follow me to a magical world of silicon, touchscreens, gum drop fairies, and power-pocket gaming. The imagineers over at Recombu have been fantasising about new ways in which Nokia could claim the portable gaming crown, and come up with a concept phone called the Ovi Orion.

The purpose of this exercise is to see how the defunct N-Gage platform could have evolved, and shows a phone that blends together the strongest aspects of the iPhone and PSP into a Nokia powerhouse.

The Ovi Orion offers up some simple yet vital gaming buttons (a D-pad and two 'fire' buttons) along with a big, bright, multi-touch touchscreen. And on the back is a full low-profile QWERTY along with a slim dialogue/text box for typing out text messages and emails.

What's particularly interesting is the Ovi Orion really isn't outside the bounds of possibility. With the powerful system-on-a-chip processors we're promised from the likes of Nvidia and Qualcomm, this phone could easily become a reality.

I'd buy one. Would you?

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
