I'm not sure whether any popular gambling sites are taking bets on the likelihood that Apple is going to unveil the much rumoured iSlate this Wednesday, but if they are the odds must be approximately 1,000,000,000 to 1 in favour.

We pretty much know it's coming. What we don't know, however, is how successful it's going to be. During all the hype a few of you are bound to have thought, “this is all very well, but what the hell am I going to do with a giant $1,000 iPod touch?” You're not alone.

We don't actually know for sure what it's going to be like yet, but thanks to a survey involving 3,000 respondents on the site VoucherCodes.co.uk we have some idea of what people - or at least the people who respond to surveys on that site - want it to be like.

According to the survey, 47 per cent of consumers would only buy the iSlate if it were £250 or under. Sadly, rumours place the device at twice that price. More encouragingly, 49 per cent would rather play games on the iSlate than the DS or PSP.

In terms of other functions, 54 per cent say the content they most want to see on the device is books. While 48 per cent say newspapers.

Astonishingly, given its mooted innovative touchscreen UI and OLED display, only 7 per cent wish to use the iSlate for the consumption of adult material.
