When the App Store launched it had about 500 games and applications ready for users to being obsessing over.

According to analytics company Flurry, the much-rumoured Apple tablet (the iSlate? The iPad? The existence of one particular app suggests the latter is more likely) already has at least 200 applications, and its existence isn't even confirmed yet.

Flurry reports that it's detected its analytics software being used inside the Cupertino fortress on 50 unidentified devices that match the characteristics of the rumoured tablet. The digital breadcrumb trail apparently leads back to last October, though our earliest rumours go back as far as August.

These 50 unidentified fruity objects have been dabbling with around 200 different applications, with games making up the majority of those. Entertainment apps and e-books/e-mags were next, and all were detected as running OS 3.2, which hasn't been released yet.

This can't help Flurry's relationship with Apple, but it's damn fascinating nonetheless. I guess we'll find out more on Wednesday.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
