Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars has unexpectedly been released for iPhone and iPod touch early this morning, though only in select territories.

The game, which is among our 10 most anticipated of 2010 for iPhone, is now available in UK and other European versions of the App Store.

American gamers will have to wait, as the game has yet to appear on the US store.

Equally as surprising as the release (which Rockstar has refused to comment on when pressed in previous weeks) is the price: £5.99.

That's a bargain compared to the PSP version available at £24.99 in UMD form, £29.99 when downloaded from the PlayStation Store.

It's not all sunshine and rainbows, though. Firmware 3.1 is required and you must have an iPhone or second generation iPod touch to play it - first generation iPods are not supported.

Furthermore, it looks as though the graphical detail has been taken down a notch. We'll examine it and other issues such as how the controls fare in our forthcoming review.
