Specifications for Apple tablet iSlate leaked?

A good estimation, even if it's not official

Corporate marketing battlefield tactics are immensely complex, but Apple has proven itself to be the virtual Sun Tzu when it comes to trumping the competition at just the right moment.

So a 'leaked' internal document might be a subtle ploy to snatch back some of the attention Google has been taking from Apple with its Nexus One handset. PhoneArena claims to be the recipient of just such a document, which allegedly details the specifications for Apple's forthcoming, highly-anticipated iSlate tablet.

Let's take a butcher's:

  • Precision aluminium unibody
  • 7.1-inch capacitive multi-touch touchscreen with some sort of “intelligent feedback” and an anti-fingerprint coating
  • 2.26Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo processor
  • 2GB DDR3 SDRAM
  • 120GB hard drive
  • Built-in projector
  • Built-in iSight camera
  • 802.11n Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR
  • Mac OS X 10.7 Clouded Leopard

A couple of features are immediately noticeable - some by their absence. A built-in projector is quite unexpected, though the 802.11n wi-fi is a welcome addition to the list. A 120GB hard drive is a decent size if this is set to be a cloud computing experience, though I'd have expected that to be solid state.

But where's the 3G connectivity? If we are indeed looking at a cloud-connected device, no cellular data could prove to be a serious stumbling block.

Please discuss.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
