Fighter jet sim turns to in-app purchases for profit

F.A.S.T. - Fleet Air Superiority Training now free on iPhone

Yesterday, we were delighted to see that SGN's new World War II flight sim, Skies of Glory had hit the App Store for the bargain price of free, and now we see its previous jet fighter simulator F.A.S.T. is following suit.

This modern aerial combat game has seen its share of price drops in the past, but this is the first time the Gold Award-winning game has actually flown free.

It seems F.A.S.T. is now using a similar freemium system to Skies of Glory, with an in-app shop for buying new planes, war zones, gear and upgrades.

The game's update to a free version seems to have caught even developer SGN a little off guard, however. Currently you're still asked whether you want to play the free version or upgrade to the premium one.

Presumably things will sort themselves out during the day and bring the multiplayer and other features back online for the new freemium system.

But anyone who hasn't taken to the skies in F.A.S.T. - Fleet Air Superiority Training should hit the App Store button below and get suited up and ready to fly.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
