Korean 2D fighting MMORPG Grand Chase coming to iPhone

Beat-'em-up fans out there will probably be familiar with the popular, free-to-play Korean MMORPG Grand Chase, which takes the highly unsual approach to online gaming by providing a hand-drawn, 2D side-scrolling fighter.

While it's therefore very exciting to hear that Grand Chase is being brought to iPhone by Ntreev, my fist unclenches a little to hear it'll be a condensed, turn-based affair instead of a portable window into the online world of the PC's Grand Chase.

Grand Chase Lite will be set in the same type of mediaeval world as you follow the story of a few brave young knights who join the nobles' quest to defeat an evil usurper. Rather than the Double Dragon-style beat-'em-up, however, the iPhone version will take on more of a turn-based RPG mechanic.

The three included characters will have 20 skills each, and take on 30 different bosses during their quest. Grand Chase Lite will be free to play, and although the superb fighting gameplay of the PC version isn't in there, it could still be a great into to the full MMORPG.

Keep an eye out on the App Store for Grand Chase Lite, which is expected during December.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
