The Simpsons Arcade fights its way onto mobile
Homer stars in his very own mobile eat-'em-up
This one seems to have flown in under the radar. Much of the conversation between the Pocket Gamer staff is via direct Simpsons quotes, but The Simpsons Arcade from EA Mobile has rather caught us by surprise.
Developed by Iron Monkey Studios (which has been working a lot with EA lately, having also developed the highly anticipated Mirror's Edge for iPhone) the game casts you as Homer in a retro-styled old skool scrolling beat-'em-up.
Springfield's most evil have hatched a plan to steal all the town's natural resources, or something equally generic in terms of its nefariousness, and hidden the plans inside a doughnut. Naturally, Homer wants this doughnut back, and is willing to take on Mayor Quimby's and Mr Burns's goons to get it.
Although it's not actually a conversion of the awesome Konami coin-op from 1991, it does play pretty much the same and is probably about as close as we're ever going to see.
It's out there now, although hunting it down is a bit irksome. And if I know EA Mobile (and I don't), I can't imagine a big franchise like this not appearing on iPhone soon, so stay tuned for more news on that front.
