For a while it seemed as if Motorola’s much-hyped Droid handset - the first phone to feature Android 2.0 - would be skipping a UK launch until at least early 2010.

However, following on from the news that several UK online retailers are offering pre-orders for the device, it’s now been revealed that the Droid - which has been rechristened “Milestone” in European markets - will be available for purchase on the 7th December, giving you more than enough time to add it to your list for Santa.

Regarded by many as the first Android-packing handset that’s really worth making a song and dance about, the Droid boasts a massive 3.7 inch display, 5 megapixel camera and a slide-out QWERTY keyboard.

It’s also supported by a massive advertising campaign, although some promotional activates have fallen a little flat lately.
