The PC is the native environment for the god game, but French developer White Birds, together with publisher Bulkypix, is bringing a taste of the genre to iPhone with Babel Rising.

Based around the Biblical story of the proud human race trying to build a tower to heaven, your role is to ensure construction is never fulfilled.

Simply confusing their languages isn't an option however - at least, there wouldn't be much game.

Instead you get access to Old Testament fury with five spells; lightning, tornado, fire from heaven, tsunami, and earthquake, as well as the direct finger of God.

Of course, the little humans are in constant action - obviously they are not native English builders - creating the usual balance between spell reload time and the speed of construction.

Graphically and gameplay-wise, it reminds us a little of 'Polynesian torture simulator' Pocket God.

And White Birds and Bulkypix will surely be pleased with a fraction of its million plus sales, when Babel Rising goes live on the App Store in December, priced $1.99, €1.59, or £1.19.
