The App Stork: Introducing Zombie Dash, Whirl'd!, Doki Doki Bloki and...
|

Two weeks ago we had ten new titles. Last week we had 20. This week we have 24. Are you spotting the same trend we are?

The App Stork is really gaining momentum, and with those all important dorsal feathers preened and gleaming there’s more reason than ever to align yourself with our chief avian delivery person.

The setup is simple. Head to the forum, click on the iPhone section, and then the iPhone and iPod touch developer news section. Then all you have to do is post about your wares, including all the links and pics you can muster.

We are particularly fond of App Store and YouTube links, so make sure you pop in both if you have them handy.

Then all you need to do is sit back and wait for your game to be included here. Due to the vast number that are appearing each week, we can only ever feature three in detail, but a link’s a link and in the cut throat climate of the App Store, any free publicity going is worth the effort.

And remember, The App Stork is for the games we don’t have time to cover elsewhere, so if you're a one man dev team you’re not going to be going up against the might of EA or Ubisoft with your baby.

As for you non-developer readers, if you haven’t yet cottoned on to the fact that this is a fantastic resource for finding out about the best games you’ve never heard about on the App Store, then you’d better catch on quick, or lose out. And so...

Zombie Dash - Clickgamer Technologies

Halloween may be behind us, but zombies are really an all year round pleasure these days, what with their prevalence on the App Store.

Zombie Dash is one of the latest. Adopting a Gauntlet-style top-down perspective, the aim is to rush through the levels without allowing your brain to be munched by any shuffling reanimates.

Chief among the game’s appealing elements is a trackball style movement system, which appears to be very effective in the video below. As is typical of the genre, Zombie Dash joins its many groaning peers in the 59p price bracket. Well worth getting out of the grave for.

Whirl’d! - Play This! Studios

Whirl’d! appeals to the part of the brain that likes circles and matching things. That’s a drastic over-simplification, but the adoption of a round play area is potentially a masterstroke.

The colourful match-'em-up gameplay explains itself, and though the bamboo sticks and bongo music spattered jungle theme is bound to cloy quickly there’s something undeniably appealing about this simple twist on the match-'em-up formula. It’s only 59p, too.

Doki Doki Bloki - Doki Doki Games

There’s something altogether very Japanese about this cute little puzzle game, which is something you don’t see much of, given the country's relatively standoffish reception to the handset.

Cast in the Picross mould, Doki Doki Bloki is a number picture puzzle title that’s bound to offer much more in the way of challenge than its butter-wouldn’t-melt presentation suggests.

It’s set to include 100 puzzles, which are currently keeping the App Store approval robots tied in knots no doubt. Look out for this one’s release in the coming weeks.
