iPhone version of Assassin’s Creed II: Discovery due today

The multiformat title closes in for the kill

iPhone version of Assassin’s Creed II: Discovery due today

To coincide with its release on other platforms, Assassin’s Creed II: Discovery will finally be released on the App Store today.

Naturally, the iPhone version will differ somewhat from the immersive open world Xbox 360, PS3 and PC versions, with gameplay instead thought to take the form of a side scrolling platformer.

Fans of the series shouldn’t be disappointed, though. There's still plenty to be excited about in the prospect of taking control of Ezio and guiding him through a fluid free-running experience with heavy stylised violent assassinations.

Assassin's Creed II is all about visceral combat - brutal hand-to-hand and wicked one shot kills. When you’re fighting in this game you’re going to feel every blow,” says a spokesperson from Ubisoft.

An added feature enables gamers to utilise the iPhone's camera to put real faces in wanted posters dotted around the game.

Assassin's Creed II hasn’t appeared on the App Store and is possibly due for a release at midnight. Rest assured that as soon as it’s live Pocket Gamer will be the first to have it downloaded, with a review to follow shortly thereafter.
