Modder shows off redesigned iControlPad with Super Mario World, WipEout XL, Ridge Racer on iPhone

Since we published the news last week that ZodTTD is bringing an N64 emulator to iPhone, the legendary hacker has spent more time in the spotlight than out of it. First, he made headlines for bringing Quake 3 maps to Eliminate, and now he’s on the front page again for his work on the iControlPad.

The much-anticipated peripheral isn’t actually out yet, but it has undergone a change of design, bringing the input buttons from the sides to the bottom of the screen and inserting a couple of analogue sticks. It even has a battery, to keep your iPhone juiced up.

The designer apparently has access to the parts used on the OpenPandora handheld system, much beloved of our own Damien McFerran.

Here’s a couple of before and after pictures of the iControlPad, along with videos from ZodTTD’s YouTube channel showing emulated versions of Super Mario World, WipEout XL, and Ridge Racer.
