Vodafone’s 360 service is rumoured to be launching tomorrow in eight European countries, including the UK.

The network operator describes the service thusly:

“A single address book for all your contacts from your phone, Facebook, Windows Live and Google. One place to get status updates and stay in touch with your friends. And a wide range of Apps, Games and Music for you to enjoy. All in one experience, accessible from your phone, PC and Mac.”

In other words, it’s Vodafone’s response to the current explosion in connected, integrated mobile devices and services such as iPhone, Android and Palm Pre. Over 1,000 apps are promised at launch.

There will also be tagging and photo sharing capabilities as well as locational updates from friends. In addition, the service will act as a backup system for all the data stored on your phone.

The initial European rollout in Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain and the UK will be joined in 2010 by the likes of India, Turkey, South Africa, New Zealand, Romania and France.

The 360 website recently changed from displaying promotional material to an 'Under maintenance' message - another sign that something is afoot.
