Publisher I-play has today announced the launch of Bubble Town 2 for iPhone and iPod touch.

While the original Bubble Town was released on mobile, readers are more likely to be aware of the game through its unprecedented success online and particularly as a Facebook application - regularly achieving more than 300,000 active players every month.

Bubble Town is one of the most successful franchises in online gaming history. We want to ensure that each new version takes advantage of the available technology in order to deliver fans the most compelling experience possible,” says Don Ryan, I-play's chief operating officer.

Developed by Oberon Media, Bubble Town’s gameplay is fairly basic and yet amazingly addictive at the same time. It all centres around the firing of objects at clusters of other objects, like Bust-a-Move.

Additional features include a brand new Invasion Mode, 12 different power-ups and the all new lob shot, where players launch borbs into place with a simple flick of the wrist.

As one would expect from a game that spawned from social-networking sites, Facebook Connect is also integrated, enabling players to post high scores online whilst staying true to attempts by the developer to converge gaming and social media.

Expect a review to follow shortly. In the meantime Bubble Town 2 is currently available on the App store for £1.79 or $2.99, hit ‘Buy It!’ to see what you’re missing.
