Beneath a Steel Sky: Remastered arrives two days early on iPhone

Classic graphic adventure game remakes are all the rage on the iPhone, with each one whipping us into into an increasingly retro-fuelled frenzy.

We weren't expecting Beneath a Steel Sky: Remastered for another couple of days, but it seems the dystopian future can't come quick enough for Apple, as the game just went live on the App Store.

Beneath a Steel Sky: Remastered makes a far greater effort to fit the iPhone platform than its adventure game predecessors, using a full touchscreen interface rather than a pseudo mouse control mechanic, and feature new animated cut scenes from Watchmen artist Dave Gibbons.

The music and voices have been remastered to bring them up to modern quality expectations, and there's even a new context-sensitive hint system to help you find you way through the outback of the future as you help orphan Robert Foster take revenge on his abductors in this sterling example of '90s adventure gaming.

Hit the 'Buy It!' button to be transported into the past and future simultaneously as you check out Beneath a Steel Sky: Remastered on the App Store.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
