Were you there queueing up outside the game's shop at midnight, with a fistful of used pound notes to exchange for the new PSPgo?

No, probably not, but the shops are open now on your way to work if you're thinking about upgrading your old Sony handheld on the new compact, slidey screen system, and a handful of bite-sized Minis have been prepared to give you something to do with it.

Over in the US, seven PSP Minis have launched alongside the PSPgo, and given us a first glance at the sort of pricing Sony is looking at for its iPhone gaming competition.

Alien Havoc, Brainpipe, Sudoku and Funky Punch all way in at $4.99, while Hero of Sparta and Fieldrunners will snatch $6.99 from your wallet. The final game on the launch roster is the first ever Sony console appearance of Tetris, which is asking for a rather excessive $9.99 (its App Store equivalent is half that price, for instance).

It is a small but eclectic selection of launch titles for the PSP Minis platform, with a decent mix of genres that should offer a bit of something almost every player.

Spanner Spencer
Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
