To celebrate next week's launch of the new PSPgo, Sony has today announced an enticing new promotion: PSPgo Rewards.

Targeted at existing PSP owners who presumably are sitting on a pile of old UMD titles with no means of playing them should they decide to upgrade to the new handheld, the scheme essential enables users to kick-start their game collection by downloading three free games from the PlayStation Network.

With a choice of 17 titles that includes Killzone: Liberation, SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Fireteam Bravo 3, Everybody’s Golf and WipEout Pure, it will be interesting to see if this is enough to appease the voices of dissent and tempt current PSP owners that may be sitting on the fence to buy Sony’s new £225 portable gaming device.

The handheld has so far been met with criticism aimed primarily at its price and the lack of a UMD drive, with a growing number of retailers are refusing to stock the product.

The promotion starts in conjunction with the PSPgo’s release on October 1st and runs until March 31st 2010. Details of how to go about claiming your free titles should become available on www.eu.playstation.com/psp.
