Dungeon Hunter quickly pulled from App Store

Firmware compatibility issues could be the cause

Despite its release earlier today, Gameloft has pulled Dungeon Hunter from the App Store.

Just hours after appearing on the App Store, the hack 'n' slash role-playing game disappeared. Early complaints of compatibility issues with firmware 3.1.1 likely fueled the decision to pull the game from sale.

Lucky gamers that snatched a copy before it was pulled (or unlucky given the purported bug), point to a bug that crashes the game when it attempts to load a specific level. While not confirmed, reports are that the error relates specifically to firmware 3.1.1.

While the situation is difficult, Gameloft is at least preventing further frustrating by preventing additional people from buying flawed copies of the game. Other titles have launched with firmware incompatibility issues, though few publishers have had the foresight to pull down a title.

Dexter the Game claimed to support 2.2.1 upon release, but fails to start on devices with that version firmware as we explained in our review. Publisher Marc Ecko Entertainment has not removed the compatibility claim nor has yet to issue an update.

Request for comment has been made with a representative of Gameloft. We expect to hear back from them shortly.

UPDATE: A Gameloft spokesperson did reach us with comment stating, "Dungeon Hunter was momentarily removed from the App Store, an update will be live very soon." No further details were provided.

In the meantime, check out our hands on impressions and video footage of the game
