Accelerometer-controlled instalment to take off this winter

Ace Combat series soaring onto iPhone

Namco Bandai has revealed through Japanese publication Famitsu plans to release a brand new instalment in its mammoth flight-action series entitled Ace Combat Xi: Skies of Incursion.

Billed as a separate, but parallel title to Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception on PSP, this brand new game is being built specifically with accelerometer control in mind.

Skies of Incursion takes place during the same period of time as the PSP game, though follows the adventure of a different squad of fighter pilots. Strapped into the cockpit of a Falcon Squadron jet, you're tasked with reclaiming the Aurelian nation from Leasath invaders.

While Namco Bandai is saving details and a playable build for Tokyo Game Show at the end of this month, it has been revealed that it will feature in-app downloads. Fighter jets and other aircraft will be made available for purchase following the game's release.

No price has been set for these optional downloads nor the main game itself.

Ace Combat Xi: Skies of Incursion is slated for release on the App Store in winter 2009.
