Free-running retro phenomenon Canabalt leaping onto iPhone

This is good news, as you'll know if you've spent hours bashing the space bar to run your pixelated parkour pal along the blocky rooftops of the immensely popular Flash game Canabalt from Semi Secret software (the team behind Wurdle).

If you're new to the free-running phenomenon, it's an ultra-simple retro-styled arcade platform game, in which your avatar sprints at full pelt along the precarious upper levels of the dystopian city.

Your only control is a jump button, allowing your heroic hero to leap the perilous gaps between the crumbling buildings, crash through windows and roll like an action... er, champion as you hit the floor running.

The awesome techno soundtrack and beautiful, austere visuals give Canabalt something of a Matrix feel, which will undoubtedly go down well when it hits the iPhone.

Check out the free online version here (and you can get a taster of what it'll look and play like on the iPhone right here). Awesome, yo.

Spanner Spencer
Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
