Roster updates, jerseys coming to Madden NFL 10 as in-app purchases
Some guys gotta pay to play
Roster updates and authentic jerseys are coming to Madden NFL 10 as part of an update that introduces in-app purchases to the game.
Announced parallel to the game's release on the App Store today, the downloads will arrive in an update sometime in the next few months, though EA Mobile wouldn't outline a specific time frame.
Downloadable roster updates should catch the ears of any hardcore pigskin fan. The ability to grab mid-season rosters with updated player stats would add a dynamic element to the game, not to mention added depth.
Paying for these, however, doesn't sound nearly as fun. Unlike their console counterparts, roster updates on iPhone and iPod Touch will come with an unspecified price tag.
We expect it will be the minimum 99c, €0.79, or 59p.
The same goes for "authentic jerseys" EA Mobile promises to sell within the game.
Along with an update bringing in-app downloads, Madden NFL 10 will also be receiving multiplayer via updates. It's not clear if these features will come together in one large update or separately.
