A couple of weeks ago, publisher Freeverse announced it was going to be standardising its games around ngmoco's Plus+ social networking platform.

The new, free 1.4 update for Flick Fishing is the first example.

The release enables you to earn achievements and get exclusive badges for your in-game persona.

You can also compete on online leaderboards against other flicking fishermen, and add friends to your buddy list, and indeed make new friends.

To do this you'll have to register for the Plus+ service, with a username, password and email address.

Luckily, you only have to do this once, in one game, and then your details will be shared between every future game that supports Plus+.

Flick Fishing joins Luxor and ngmoco's Star Defense as the first wave of games to use Plus+.

Also added in the 1.4 update of Flick Fishing are two new fish and the iPod Playlist feature for those using OS 3.0.

And players who bought the Private Beach add-on get a new fish - Mahi Mahi - and a Fishjack upgrade enabling gameplay against the CPU.

Flick Fishing v1.4 is out now, priced 99c, €0.79, or 59p. Hit the 'Buy It!' button to go direct to the App Store.
