As part of its GamesCom presentation (which Rob is currently liveblogging at light speed), Sony has finally given you a good reason for grabbing its handheld hardware update, the PSPgo, on launch day.

Registering your shiny new PSPgo between the 1st and 10th of October (in PAL regions, it was pointed out) will qualify you for a free download of the highly anticipated PSP racing game, Gran Turismo.

Certainly a delicious freebie, though our excitement is ever so slightly dulled by the notion that you'll need to be queueing up at the game shop the moment the new console hits the shelf - at full (very full) price.

Still, if you're planning on buying Gran Turismo anyway (and you probably are) this would essentially shave a few quid off the price of your new hardware.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
