You might recall Dot Matrix Interactive Design teased us at the beginning of July with a couple of pictures of rock-hard-bastard tanks from its forthcoming iPhone game, which we clever deduced was called KIL.A.TON.

Well, it's now landed on the App Store, revealing itself to be a high-octane artillery game. Up to six tanks go head-to-head across a variety of different planets and battlefields that can be modified to meet your needs.

It also packs in an online multiplayer mode (something that's been promised for Worms, but hasn't been delivered as yet), and allows you to create custom games using your favourite features.

The twist in its heavily armoured tale is that KIL.A.TON dispenses with the typical turn-based gameplay, and has all the tanks fighting it out in real time (although sequential gameplay is still an option if you prefer it).

KIL.A.TON went live at the weekend, so here's a gameplay video and a walkthrough of the first scenario to get you revved up for some hot artillery action.

Yes. Spanner's his real name, and he's already heard that joke you just thought of. Although Spanner's not very good, he's quite fast, and that seems to be enough to keep him in a regular supply of free games and away from the depressing world of real work.
