The Vodafone Play Live chart: 5th August 2009

It’s a match made in heaven this week as two popular puzzlers figure out a solution to The Sims 3’s popularity. Both Tetris and Bejeweled have overtaken EA’s behemoth, slotting into first and second place respectively.

Tetris needs no introduction, as its near-perfect formula of slotting blocks into place and clearing lines has been topping charts for decades. Bejeweled, meanwhile, requires you to cue up lines of three or more coloured gems in order to make them disappear.

It’s far from puzzling to see these two greats at the top of the pile.
